HEROIC has parted ways with offlaner Davai Lama after a rough start to the new season.
South America’s top Dota 2 team
HEROIC have opted for roster changes following a disastrous start to the new season, failing to match their previous performance and recently losing to Perú Rejects in the DreamLeague Season 28 qualifier. As a result, the team have moved offlaner
Cedric “Davai Lama” Deckmyn to inactive.
“Due to recent challenges with performance we’ve made the difficult decision to move [Davai Lama] off the active roster. We want to thank [Davai Lama] for his contributions, wishing him nothing but the best in the next chapter of his career,” HEROIC announced on Twitter/X.
HEROIC drop Davai Lama after poor start to the new season
Davai Lama’s departure from HEROIC came as an unfortunate move following the team's rough recent performances. The Belgian American player have played for HEROIC across different seasons, initially in 2024 then re-joined the team after The International 2025 concluded last September.
Despite starting off the new season strong–with a victory over MOUZ in the finals at FISSURE Universe: Episode 7–HEROIC would gradually plummet in performance. The team scored decent results in BLAST Slam IV with a 3rd-4th placement and in PGL Wallachia Season 6 with a Top 8 finish, but continued to tumble in the end-year show at DreamLeague Season 27 with a frustrating bottom placement.
The final straw came when the team lost the sole South American slot in DreamLeague Season 28 to Peru Rejects last week. Adding salt to the wound, the loss was also against their former players, namely David Nicho “Parker” Flores and
Elvis “Scofield” De la Cruz Peña.
This rough patch prompted HEROIC to switch up their team dynamics, with Davai Lama shuffled to the bench. HEROIC will announce his replacement soon as the team prepares to compete in the ESL One Birmingham South American qualifier tomorrow, 17 January.
HEROIC have delivered consistent performances last season, winning the team's first Tier 1 trophy and South America's first international victory at PGL Wallachia Season 6 in late 2024. The team sustained mild results throughout 2025, and now undergoes a rough patch in this new season start. Eyes will be on the team to see if they can find their footing again in upcoming qualifiers and events.
