It has been a long time since a team has absolutely dominated the Dota 2 scene, but it seems we are in a phase where Gaimin Gladiators are proving to be undefeatable. The Western European outfit defeated BetBoom Team in the grand finals of DreamLeague Season 20 to clinch their second DreamLeague title of the Dota 2 year, and their fourth consecutive premier tournament.
Gaimin Gladiators weren’t at their best in DreamLeague Season 20. They dropped a few games more than what we’ve been accustomed to this season and had to start the playoffs in the lower bracket. Dropping the first game against both, Talon Esports and PSG.LGD, GG dug deep with their backs against the wall, facing elimination, to win both series and make it to the grand finals.

Going into the grand finals, BetBoom were the slight favorites as not only had they made it there through the upper bracket, but they had also defeated Gaimin Gladiators thrice throughout the tournament, and boasted of a 6-0 record against them.
But when it comes to the grand finals, the best in business tend to up their game. GG won a hard fought game 1, which turned out to be the only back and forth game of the grand finals. After that, BetBoom won the next two games comfortably, while it was the same scenario in the two final games, but in favor of Gaimin Gladiators.
Not that BetBoom didn’t give it a try in the last two games. Especially in game 4, they made a comeback of sorts in the mid game after a shambolic early game, but composure on the side of GG and a few errors on the side of BB meant the comeback wouldn’t be complete. The last game seemed like an outdraft, as although the net worth lead did not sway too high in either direction, BetBoom had no answer against Gaimin Gladiators’ Medusa.
With the end of DreamLeague Season 20, the teams all head to the final DPC Major of the year, the Bali Major. All four premier tournaments of the 2022-2023 DPC season have been claimed by Gaimin Gladiators, and they have done it across a massive patch and meta change. This team knows how to get the best out of each other, and heading into the final third of the Dota 2 season, they will be the team to beat.
