Patch 7.29 adds Dawnbreaker, removes Necronomicon and brings heroes and map changes

The latest Dota 2 patch, 7.29 delivers exactly what was promised to the players but the changes, although expected, are rather big and set to modify the pace of the game once more.

Dawnbreaker, Dota 2 newest Strength hero

Dawnbreaker joins the carry ranks, with Strength as her main attribute. While she is wielding a two hand hammer that damages, burns, slows, stuns the enemies and heals allies in an area of effect, Dawnbreaker’s ultimate, Solar Guardian is a global teleport that within 350 units of an allied that creates a pulsing effect damaging enemies and heals allies with each pulse. Additionally, on hero landing it damages and stuns the enemies. While the new hero seems extremely powerful, plenty of other game mechanics have been nerfed while many have been changed.

Item and consumables changes

Some of the most important changes come in the form of map, power and bounty runes and item reworks. Speaking of items, most notably is the removal of Necronomicon and Royal Jelly.

Tangoes can’t be pooled in the Strategy phase UI and expire after 40 seconds after they’ve been shared. Heroes now start the game with just one Teleport Scroll. The TP scroll cost has been increased from 90 to 100 gold but, heroes now gain 1 TP scroll on death.

Sentry wards cost has also been reduced from 75 to 50 gold but the True Sight radius was also reduced from 1000 to 900.

Among the item changes that players will notice immediately are the removal of the blink effect from Abyssal Blade, Helm of the Dominator 2 now allowing to dominate up to two units and the Divine Rapier no longer providing True Strike.

Hoodwink added to Captain’s Mode

Valve has tinkered with a lot of the heroes while also adding Hoodwink in Captain’s Mode along with giving her shiny new spells through Aghanim’s Scepter and Aghanim’s Shard upgrades.

Among other heroes that received Aghanim’s or Shard reworks are Dazzle, who might have become a legit mid lane hero now, Crystal Maiden, Grimstroke, Invoker, Slark and Phoenix.

Map changes

The map has once again been suffering adjustments. Players will now have to figure out new juking paths as the lanes have been populated with more trees. They will have to learn new warding spots as most of the cliffs have been removed or relocated. Additionally, the Outposts and the Bounty Runes locations are changed.

While there are still four Bounty runes at the start of the game, the two runes in the river will spawn at the Power rune location and moving forward into the game, they will spawn only two, one in each jungle, at every 3 minute. Bounty Runes no longer disappear when new ones spawn, they now spawn alongside the previous one if it isn't picked up.

Water Power Rune

A new power rune was added to the game. Water Power Rune will spawn only at the 2 and the 4 minute mark and instantly restores 100 health and 80 mana when used. Can be used to fill bottles. Starting at 6 minutes, Power Runes spawn as usual on one side.

Overall, the 7.29 patch brings a big overhaul to the game. Stay tuned as we will deliver everything you need to know in order to digest the full patch. Hero changes breakdown, economy and general changes analysis, an in-depth look at Aghnaim’s Scepter and Shards are to come soon on GosuGamers!
