The Huya Dota2 Winter Invitational is being touted as the first transregional tournament of the year, with teams from China and SEA set to participate.
It was announced that the Chinese Livestream platform Huya joined forces with the CDA and 富名文贺 to host the first transregional tournament of the year.

The Huya Dota2 Winter Invitational will feature teams from both China and Southeast Asia and a prize pool of ¥600,000 CNY (~$90,000 USD).
Ten of the participating teams will receive a direct invite and two will come from the closed qualifiers.
On top of the prize pool, the MVP will receive an extra cash prize.
10 of the participants received a direct invite, whereas two squads will make their way through closed qualifiers.
The group stage will be held December 13-27 with LAN finals which will be hosted at a yet to be revealed location in China.

China: EHOME, Team Aster, Royal Never Give Up, Invictus Gaming, Sparking Arrow Gaming
SEA: IO, Neon Esports, Execration, 496 Gaming, Army Geniuses.
Format:
- Participants
- Ten invited teams
- Two teams from a closed qualifier
- Group Stage - December 13th - December 22nd
- Two groups of six team each
- Single round-robin
- All matches are Bo3
- Top four teams advance to the playoffs
- Bottom two teams are eliminated
- Playoffs - December 23rd - December 27th
- Double-elimination bracket
- All matches except Grand Final are Bo3
- Grand Final is Bo5
Prize pool distribution:
- 1st: 200,000 CNY
- 2nd: 120,000 CNY
- 3rd: 90,000 CNY
- 4th: 60,000 CNY
- 5th: 30,000 CNY
- 6th: 30,000 CNY
- 7th -8th: 15,000 CNY
- 9th -12th: 7,500 CNY
- 13th -14th: 5,000 CNY
In addition to the prize pool, there will be an extra financial reward for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
