First Major of the year to be held in Malaysia

The first Major of the DPC 2018-2019 season has been announced as being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at Axiata Arena.

Only five days before the open qualifiers are scheduled to begin and just over a week before the rosters are expected to lock in, Valve has announced that the first Major of the new season will be held in SEA, hosted by PGL.

As per the new rules set in place this year, all sixteen teams competing for the $1,000,000 prize pool will need to qualify for their spot. That means at least two teams per each of the six designated regions plus four other qualified teams will attend. In addition to the cash, valve had previously stated that "All teams that play in a Minor or Major will earn DPC points." Point allocations per placement have not yet been announced.

The Kuala Lumpur Major dates:

  • Sept 10-15 Open Qualifers
  • Sept 16-21 Closed Qualifers
  • Nov 9-10 Group Stage
  • Nov 11-18 Playoffs
  • Nov 16-18 held at Axiata Arena

Open qualifier registration has not yet been opened at this moment but fans should continue to check FACEIT for the details. Any teams hoping to receive invitations to the regional qualifiers will need to register their teams by September 15 at 10:00 AM PDT.

Information on format, talent lineup and tickets will be forthcoming.

Axiata Arena is an indoor arena located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with a seating capacity of 14,425. It is also known as Putra Indoor Stadium and was first opened in 1998.
