OG destroy Na'Vi and claim the ESL One Frankfurt 2016 title

The final of ESL One Frankfurt saw OG taking on Na’Vi.

After many months of people asking if Na’Vi were indeed back, they found themselves in the finals of a tournament, but did that prove that they were actually back? Standing in their way would be the team who stomped them many times in recent games, the team at the top of world rankings right now – OG. Who would take home the first place spoils?

Game One

From the early game, OG took the advantage. Na’Vi’s attempts to gank and shutdown Miracle’s mid lane Templar Assassin were constantly met with death – as OG’s supports were quick to react. With thirteen minutes gone, OG had complete control with an 11-4 score line. As the first full team fight broke out outside the Rosh pit, OG ripped through four of the Radiant and lost none – and on the back of that, OG claimed the aegis.

With twenty minutes coming up, OG were constantly destroying Na’Vi, as they dropped tier two mid tower. When OG moved high ground mid, they managed to easily drop the barracks, but overstayed their welcome and Na’Vi wiped them. But as they became desperate to find an opening in the game, they lost three at the Rosh pit, claimed an aegis and then destroyed the bottom barracks.

OG seemed to just play with Na’Vi as they continued to rack up kills and after a while, Na’Vi threw in the towel and called GG.

Game Two

First blood took just under five minutes, as OG rotated their supports in well to take down the Templar Assassin mid. The game seemed to start going the same way as game one but OG seemed to overstay their time in lanes and this caused them to get wiped by Na’Vi near the Dire’s tier two bot tower. However, OG were outplaying Na’Vi at every other turn, taking most fights and pushing towers across the map.

With twenty minutes passed, things looked dire for the Dire as OG dropped four followed by the mid tier two tower. A quick turn around fight for Na’Vi came out soon after, as they managed to take down four from OG and this may have been the opening they were hoping for as they walked into the Rosh pit. But OG had other ideas and once again destroyed Na’Vi’s line up. With thirty minutes gone OG dropped the mid barracks.

Soon after this, Na’Vi had no choice but to call GG again, giving OG a 2-0 lead in this Best of Five.

Game Three

A better start came in this game for Na’Vi as they managed to claim the first blood along with another kill simultaneously in a different lane. With seven minutes passed, Na’Vi were looking great, having a 7-1 lead. With the first big team fight breaking out outside the Rosh pit, both teams drew equal and even though Na’Vi claimed the aegis, they didn’t take a clean fight. OG now seemed to be making their way back into the game. With twenty minutes gone, Na’Vi still had the lead in the score but OG were definitely holding their own and keeping Na’Vi playing defensively.

Both teams began dancing around the Rosh pit again, which became a case of kills being traded back and forth. At the end of a very long fight around the pit, OG claimed the aegis and seemed in complete control of the game. OG decided to go high ground soon after this and dropped the tier three tower, but the Dire managed to defend their barracks for now.

With forty two minutes passed, OG took down four from Na’Vi and pushed down the bot barracks before moving through and dropping the mid tier three tower. When OG decided to come back onto the high ground they rolled through Na’Vi and without any chance of coming back, Na’Vi called GG.

OG managed to secure a second 1st place finish in just two weeks while Na’Vi unfortunately will have to settle with 2nd place.
