Manila Major: Fnatic and Newbee secure top six

After today's round of games, Newbee and Fnatic have proven themselves worthy to continue onto the second round of the upper bracket.

Newbee achieved a 2-1 victory against Digital Chaos and Fnatic a 2-1 victory against LGD to secure themselves a spot in the second round of the Manila Major upper bracket. Newbee and Fnatic will play each other tomorrow at 14:00 CEST for a confirmed top four finish. With these victories, MVP.P, OG, Newbee and Fnatic have secured a top six finish at the Major and at least $202,500 of the $3,000,000 prize pool.

Meanwhile, the losers of upper bracket matches will be fighting for their tournament lives in the lower bracket tomorrow. Digital Chaos will be facing the EG-slayers, VG.Reborn, at 04:00 CEST and LGD will be facing Empire, the Secret-slayer, at 07:30 CEST.

The games between Digital Chaos and Newbee were intense and fast-paced, with both teams going head to head with similar strategies and ending all three games within 35 minutes. In the LGD vs Fnatic match, there was much more variety, game one was one-sided, game two featured a come-back and game three was an epic 60 minute match, featuring clutch Black holes by Djardel 'Dj' Mampusti.

Interestingly, the top six teams at the Shanghai Major is in direct contrast to the four decided top six teams at the Manila Major. The four decided top six teams at the Manila Majors consists of two from the SEA Dota region, one from China and one from Europe, while the Shanghai Major had no Chinese teams, two European teams and one American team at the same stage.
