Zephyr advances, despite an accidental Bloodseeker

So far, so good for Zephyr who moves on to the upper semi finals of Nexon Sponsorship League despite accidentally drafting Bloodseeker instead of Mirana. Also find out more about the transition to Korea in a video interview with Kevin 'Purge' Godec.

One of the big recent stories in the Dota 2 scene is real-life friends William 'BlitZ' Lee and Kevin 'Purge' Godec teaming up in Team Zephyr with hope to conquer the Korean scene. Other than Purge and Blitz, the team also consists of Alaan 'Bamboe' Faraj, Corey 'Corey' Wright and Steven 'Eosin' Cheng. Bamboe is the only player out of those who have been participating in pro tournaments with certain consistency. He played at The International #2 in 2012 with Mousesports and attempted to qualify with Evil Geniuses in 2013 but unfortunately fell short in the end. BlitZ already had a bit of trial and error over in Korea as he recently joined fOu which disbanded shortly afterwards due to massive internal issues. Purge made a name for himself through his numerous count of newcomer-friendly YouTube videos, displaying and explaining heroes of the game.

So far, so good for Zephyr, being the foreign team of this season of Nexon Sponsorship League. They quickly dispatched of team All In earlier today, winning 2-0 and moving on to the semi finals where they will face up against MVP.hot6. This was despite accidentally picking Bloodseeker instead of Mirana as their second pick in game two.

Purge recently gave an interview to Esports Report where he talks about being hungry to move on from making videos and trying out the pro scene, he has been part of American amateur teams (recently The Thundercats) since a while back in 2013. The Korean scene is not as strong or strategical complex and developed as the Western scene, hence why it is a great opportunity for players like Purge who are currently not good enough for the Western pro scene (his own words). Learn more about Zephyr's training routine, cultural difference and more in the interview below.

The Nexon matches continue on Saturday with the first semi final between 5InQ and Eye of Tiger Hammer going down. Purge and BlitZ have their next match January 21st.
