GPL down to last three teams

The exhausting phase of the playoffs has finished yesterday, with teams having the possibility of playing up to four straight make-or-break best-of-one matches. Along with those matches also came the exit of nine teams, and thus only three remains.

Play four consecutive elimination games is what Filipino team Execration did, as they made their way into the top three after being seeded into the first round of the lower bracket. Among their wins are against Asian Cyber Games 2013 finalists MiTh.Trust and Mineski, and Malaysia's rising team in Lowyat.net.

Execration will be going up against Insidious on the lower bracket finals. This is a crucial match, as the third placer on this tournament will not get any prize. The Filipino team is responsible for Insidious' lone defeat on the group stage, but the latter was sent to the lower bracket after they succumbed against First Departure 2-1 on the upper bracket finals.

First Departure, Singapore's representative for the Asian Cyber Games, still looks very strong despite losing their carry Meracle to Titan. They are awaiting the winner of the Execration and Insidious match-up, and they are already guaranteed of at least a second place finish. They will also enjoy a one-game advantage on the best-of-five finals. FD is fresh off a win from the RGN League.

It can be noted that the top three teams are all from Group A of this tournament. The Champion will win $1,000, while the runner-up will get $500.
