Disappointing end for Speed in G-League; Tongfu qualifies for playoffs

TongFu is the final team to enter the semifinals as they defeated Speed 2-1 on the last game of the lower bracket.

Speed Gaming, runner-up of Group A, moved into the finals of the lower bracket after losing against LGD. Meanwhile, TongFu is fresh off their victory against fellow third-ranked team in groups, VG. Their best-of-three match will decide the last team joining the semifinals of G-League 2013.

With the win, TongFu just eliminated the Champion of EMS One Fall (VG) and MLG (Speed) in consecutive matches .They will now be joining LGD.cn in the semifinals, along with another team on Group B in Invictus Gaming. DK, the leader of Group A, is the only team to advance into the semifinals from that group. Both semifinals series will be played tomorrow, while the finals will be played in January. All the teams are now guaranteed ~$1,600.

Game 1

The Chinese team went with a strong pushing line-up featuring Pugna and Dragon Knight, while Speed ran a five-man line-up which including a Treant Protector and a Puck. TongFu was not able to establish themselves early though, and the lack of a true carry placed a time-bomb on their backs.

Behind a strong Mirana play by Singsing, Speed was able to take control of the game. With a Treant Protector on their team, Luna was also able to farm efficiently against the skill-based line-up of the opponents. Aside from having strong farm, Luna was also able to completely zone out Clockwork, the offlane hero for TongFu. The strong surprise initiation of Speed with the Mirana, Treant and Puck had them controlling and winning team fights, which stretched their lead. The highly-mobile heroes of Speed were able to position themselves well against Pugna's ward, and Luna continued getting bigger as the game progressed. Speed moved in for a final push after Luna got the Aegis and his second Butterfly, and there wasn't much TongFu could do to contest.

Game 2

Speed went with another Mirana, while TongFu opted for a strong mid-game lineup with a Storm and a Luna. The Western team put Shadow Fiend on the middle lane, and they gained the edge after they got a first blood on the bottom lane and a solo kill by Clockwork on the Luna in the early stage of the game.

Lich trailed Shadow Fiend, denying him experience and last hits with his Sacrifice. With the Mirana switching to middle lane and Rubick letting go of the pressure, Storm had space to get his levels and items. Speed attempted ganks, but they failed due to the high-levelled heroes of the Chinese team. On the contrary, Speed's support, particularly Sandking, was severely under-leveled. TongFu punished Sandking, jumping on him and constantly hunting him. Storm started to snowball, leading to big team fight wins for his team. A heavy push on the bottom lane sealed the deal for them, putting their lead to good use in sieging and execution in the uphill battle.

Game 3

Speed has a rather refreshing Io-Luna and a Templar Assassin pick. TongFu played their last pick to good advantage choosing Razor, a hero who would do well against TA. The Chinese team, however, surprisingly put a bottle-yielding Nature's Prophet on their 1-position player Zhou.

TongFu was able to secure a lot of farm for Nature's Prophet, who purchased a Necronomicon after his Midas. Luna, on the other hand, lagged behind after giving up first blood. The Chinese team wasted no time in grouping up, making the most of their strategy and minimizing the effect of Io in the process. Because of the Treants of the high-leveled Nature's Prophet, EternalEnvy's Luna decided to go for a Maelstrom to help clear the creeps.

Speed had a big collapse on the 30th minute, which caused them to evenutally lose two lanes. The Chinese got cocky though, and Speed found themselves somewhat on top of two straight team-fights, one featuring a five-hero kill by Templar Assassin. TongFu gathered themselves immediately and claimed the win after taking Roshan and barelling through the bottom lane.?
