Access to Dota 2 no longer requires going through the queue system. Players that do not have access to Dota 2 yet can now download and play the game immediately.
For several months after the removal of the beta key system, access to Dota 2 was granted through a queue system. The queue system was used to allow Valve to gradually increase their playerbase while they improve the infrastructure and the overall experience for new players. Valve stated that the recent completion of server management updates as well as the release of numerous enhancements to the new user experience allowed them to remove all restrictions of playing Dota 2.
On the blog post Valve stated that signups are no longer required to access the game. New players are encouraged to try Dota 2 by heading over towards the Dota 2 Steam Page and clicking the "Play Game" button. Existing players are able to receive additional bonuses by using the new recruitment feature to get a friend into the game.
