Speed Gaming transitions their success at events to online tournaments as they take down Sigma 3-1. They will go up against Alliance in the grand final of Dota 2 Champions League next week.
Speed at MLG, with stand-in Arteezy in the middle
The Dota 2 scene is currently making way for some new teams, such as Speed Gaming and Sigma International who both went up against each other today in the Dota 2 Champion's League semi finals. Both teams went in with their own style, Sigma's being aggression, quick response and map control whereas Speed was safe farming, combined with controlling the pace of the game and fighting at their own terms. The first game featured a very push heavy strategy by Speed with Pugna as the position one hero, they managed to win the game in no more than 23 minutes. Sigma took a page from Fnatic's playbook in the second game and brought out the Tiny+Wisp combo to secure themselves a 1-1 in the series. Solid laning and control spelled Speed Gaming in game three and four, making it the last ones of the series.
"At the end of the day, one shall stand and one shall fall"
?They successfully shut down Sigma and set the pace, proving why they are one of the most interesting teams at the moment. Speed took the victory 3-1 with their regular line-up, bOne7 seen in the roster once again as opposed to at MLG where Arteezy played instead due to bOne7's visa issues.
The grand final of D2CL will be played on Tuesday and will be nothing less than Alliance vs Speed Gaming, The International champions vs the MLG champions. Alliance has been the face of Dota 2 through most of the year with their solid well-oiled machinery style, but lately they have been swaying and instead Speed Gaming have been stepping up as one of the teams to look out for. The final will proclaim whereas the old machinery still can punch or if Speed will be the team to end the year on the high note. Furthermore, Speed also has EternalEnvy as an important factor, the renegade who used to be part of Alliance's original line-up back when they first conquered the scene under the name of NoTidehunter. He was removed from the team back in February and EGM took his place to form the TI-winning roster they currently are running with. It will be a rivalry on a personal level, on a competitive level as well as tactical level.
