Dota 2, Berlin Major, Dota 2 patch 7.33

Berlin Major group stage team and hero statistics

With the group stages for the Berlin Major done and dusted, we take a look at the team and hero statistics for all 147 games played.

The ESL One Berlin Major is the first premier tournament to be played start to finish on Dota 2 patch 7.33. There is a lot of intrigue around games as the Dota 2 community watches how the best in the business play the game in the new evolving meta.

The group stages of the Berlin Major ended on the 30th of April, with 12 of the 18 teams making it through to the playoffs. Six teams were eliminated and will have to try again next tour to take a crack at the Bali Major, the final DPC Major of the 2022-2023 season.

In the group stages of the Berlin Major, a total of 147 games were played. In those games, 107 unique heroes were picked, which is kind of expected as teams are experimenting with a lot of heroes. As we head into the playoffs of the Berlin Major on the 1st of May, let’s take a look at the team and hero statistics for the group stages of the tournament.

Even with the new meta evolving around Dota 2 patch 7.33, a lot of old heroes are seen in the mix. Rubick, KotL, Doom, Slark and Enchantress were popular picks in the last patch as well. But some new faces are showing up as Crystal Maiden, Underlord and Alchemist have started getting popular because of the changes in patch 7.33. Muerta is a carry that is being considered by teams, but right now, her win rate does not seem to indicate that she is doing too well.

Western Europe still continues to dominate the field even with the new meta. Gaimin Gladiators and Tundra Esports topped their respective groups, and OG and Team Liquid made the upper bracket too. All four of the WEU teams are amongst the eight upper bracket teams, which shows how dominant this region is. To be fair, considering how nascent the meta is, it will take time for teams to change their playstyle to best suite the changes that have come with patch 7.33. In a week, we will see if anyone else has unveiled the secret to dethrone the WEU teams, or if it will be the usual suspects fighting for the ESL One Berlin Major trophy.
