ESTC 2011

The second half of 2011 promises to be jam-packed full of DotA action as yet another tournament has been announced. ESTC will return for another edition, where Asia's elite will once again battle it out for the title.

Although traditionally overshadowed by its more well known and more illustrious counterparts such as SMM and WDC, ESTC is just as prestigious. Last years edition saw participation from the top teams in Asia, with household names such as Nirvana.my, Aeon MUFC and Chinese powerhouses EHOME and Deity all thrown into the mix. The grand final was an epic clash between EHOME and Nirvana.my. The latter, with malaysian stars Mushi and YamateH still in their roster, eventually upset EHOME to be crowned champions. Replay can be found here.

With Nirvana.my no longer around, it remains to be seen who will step up to the plate to claim the coveted title, but fans can be assured of even more exhilarating DotA action.

The championship will run from the 6-9 October at Siam Paragon Bangkok, Thailand. 32 teams, 20 thai and 12 international teams will be split into round-robin format groups of four, with the top two teams from every group progressing into the finals. They will then battle it out in a single elimination (best of one) format for the title of best in Asia. With the promise of free accomodation it is only a matter of time before top teams around the region throw their names into the hat. Registration closes on the 19th of September.
