C9, EnVyUs, Rogue, Liquid and more to BEAT Invitational next week

$7,500 are on the line for eight of the best Overwatch teams.

The Overwatch scene is experiencing its honeymoon period and there are new tournaments popping up each day. The latest one to be announced is the BEAT Invitational, gathering eight teams for a week-long event.

Seven of the rosters have been confirmed by the tournament organizers and include Cloud9, Gale Force, Luminosity, NG Red, EnVyUs, Liquid and ROGUE, with the last remaining team to be yet announced. An international competition, BEAT Invitational will be Europe’s chance to try and dethrone United States from the top of world rankings, currently occupied by Cloud9 and EnVyUs, both of which have a hefty lead ahead of European squads Reunited and ROGUE.

The brackets for the event are also public already and there are a couple of matches that are definite eye-catchers. In Group A, Luminosity Gaming – who were until recently on a ten-game win-streak – face #2 in the world rankings EnVyUs who have not dropped any of their last fifteen matches. Group B, on the other hand, features what will likely be the highlight of the opening round with ranking leaders – and yet undefeated 35 matches later – Cloud9 go against Rogue, the latter recently reported to have signed French star Jean-Lous “Knoxxx” Boyer, formerly of Creation.

Full coverage of the event is available in our event coverage hub here. The group stages are starting June 27-28 with playoffs following on July 1st. Casting will be provided by @TempoZP and @hexagrams.
