Decklist spotlight: The decks of the EU Winter Playoffs winners

Great deck techs propelled the quartet to coveted Winter Championship seeds.

Of all four players who persisted through the EU Winter Playoffs this weekend, Pavel “Pavel” Belutkov’s line-up was perhaps the most standard, the reigning world champion relying on the tried and true and staying away from quirky deck techs. All the rest, on the other hand, had found spots in their deck lists to try and surprise opponents.

Playoffs runner-up James “Greensheep” Luo had chosen what he said to be a “classic Greensheep line-up”, one very heavy on agro. The clear odd-one-out in Greensheep’s line-up is without doubt his Pirate Rogue, an archetype which came from China to terrorize the ladder in the first week of Gadgetzan Standard but fell off popularity as the metagame developed.

Yevgeniy “Neirea” Shumilin and Alexey “ShtanUdachi” Barsukov also brought experimental techs to their Rogues, with both players running [card]beneath the grounds[/card]. ShtanUdachi’s deck techs, however, spanned beyond Valeera’s domain and the Russian could be seen playing a Jade Midrange Shaman with [card]the curator[/card] and a RenoLock with [card]curse of rafaam[/card].
