China up by one at the start of CN vs. NA Championship

The foreigners are in a catch-up position coming into day two.

Eight games in, China took the opening round of the third CN vs. NA Championship, organized by Gold Series. The host nation showed strong and diverse line-ups to make a strong statement to give start to the tournament.

China’s coach “Lvge” was a key player for the home team. In spite of his unusual choice to bring Anyfin Paladin – a deck very much out of the meta right now – Lvge eliminated both Frank “Fr0zen” Zhang and David “Dog” Caero, two of NA’s strongest players, right off the bat. It took Julien “Cydonia” Perrault to stop Lvge’s win streak but the Canadian in turn fell to his rival, Blizzcon semi-finalist Jason “JasonZhou” Zhou.

Team NA stayed behind the whole series and never took control of the reins, ultimately sending Andrey “Reynad” Yanyuk forth when all the rest lay defeated. Though the Tempo Storm captain did avenge Keaton “Chakki” Gil for his loss to “XHope”, CN vs. EU champion Bohan “Lovelychook” Zhang was his undoing, 3-0’ing Reynad’s RenoMage with relative ease.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow with revised line-ups. For now, Team China remains ahead in the prize money won game with approximately $28,000 in their pockets total.
