Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy is back winning championships as he bested Brit hero J4CKIECHAN to win his first big tournament of 2016.

Compared to last year, 2016 went with a slow pace for the decorated G2 player. If in 2015 he broke multiple win-rate records at the start of the year and went on to win three LAN finals, including the $250,000 Archon Team League as part of the now-rebranded Nihilum squad, it wasn’t until this Sunday that he hoisted a trophy in 2016.

The place in question was SeatStory Cup V. Regarded as one of the most entertaining invitational series in Hearthstone, TakeTV’s tournament welcomed players, casters and fans to their revamped studio in Krefeld for a weekend of Hearthstone competition, poker, party games and other leisure activities.

The unique atmosphere of the tournament did not diminish its competitive aspect and the contenders showed top level play and innovative deckbuilding. The semi-final between G2 team-mates Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk and Lifecoach went on to be praised by SSC caster TJ Sanders as one of the best he’s seen in a while. At the same time, the second grand finalist of the cup J4CKIECHAN showed just why he has a trusted and always entertained Twitch fan-base, bringing not only his signature Token Druid, but also a DragonLock, Tempo Mage and Crusher Shaman with [card]Earth Elemental[/card]s and even [card]Frost Giant[/card]s.

While he barely lost the grand finals, J4CKIECHAN made a great impression himself. Before dropping 3-4 in the grand finals, the Brit defeated household names of the scene, including HWC 2015 runner-up Dylan “Hotform” Mullins, reigning world champion Sebastian “Ostkaka” Engwall and the Europe Winter champion Ole “Naiman” Batyrbekov.
