DreamHack Summer is down to its final eight

The champion will be crowned at the end of the day.

191 players have now been whittled down to eight as the DreamHack Summer major enters quarter finals. At 14:30 CEST today, the competition will resume to crown the second DH winner of this year and find the one to inherit the throne from Keaton “Chakki” Gil.

It’s been a successful tournament for the Danish contingent in particular. Apart from country’s best performer Frederik “Hoej” Nielsen, Nicklas “Tessin” Christensen and lesser known player Emil “Slugg” Jelager also made it to the quarter finals. To the Dane’s misfortune, one of them is guaranteed to end his run today as Hoej and Tessin play in the first match of the day.

Other major storylines are in the cooker, too. Dima “Rdu” Radu could become the only two-times DreamHack champion in circuit’s history if he beats George “BoarControl” Webb and wins the following two matches, too. Jan “SuperJJ” Janssen is competing to secure yet another gold medal in his relatively short career, while Frank “Fr0zen” Z will fight to keep the DH trophy in the United States as NA’s sole representative in the final eight.
