Tempo Storm win the Archon rivalry in last night’s ATLC satellite

Reynad’s team got its revenge against long-time rivals Archon and is one win away from making it to the live finale.

Last night’s ATLC satellite matches lived up to the hype and then some. After a total of 22 games played, Tempo Storm and Nihilum moved on to the winners bracket and will spar today to determine the third team to qualify for the live finals in Texas.

For Tempo Storm, this was a match with more than just seeding on the line. T/S were handpicked by Team Archon, whose #3 seed in the regular season gave them the right to determine the satellite bracket, in a continuation of a long rivalry between the two teams. With Archon having won the previous series, there was even more pressure on Tempo to perform, lest they be one more loss away from elimination.

Six games into the match, Archon was leading 4-2 with only Sebastian “Xixo” Bentert left to beat the remaining two players of Tempo, Petar “Gaara” Stevanovic and Hayun “Eloise” Tang, who were also playing two of the weakest classes pre-TGT in Paladin and Priest. The combined effort of the T/S duo, however, was just about enough, and Reynad’s team emerged victorious in the last game to move on to the winners bracket finals.

In the bottom half of the bracket, Nihilum and Forsenboys also fought long and hard. A dynamic back-and-forth series saw both teams struggling to establish a winning streak and trading game for game for the entirety of the set. Ultimately, it came down to a Nihilum tried and tested strategy – put Dima “Rdu” Radu in as the closer, enjoy the victory.

After the WB clash between T/S and Nihilum, Forsenboys will play Archon in the lower bracket to determine who will follow Celestial and Team Liquid out of ATLC.
