We went from top 12 to top 4 in this second day of The International playoffs in Seattle. Lower bracket rounds 2 to 4 and the upper bracket semi final were played today. Here is the summary of GosuGamers' coverage from this Saturday.
The second day at The International playoffs started with the lower bracket matches of round 2, casted by TobiWan and syndereN, who replaced Slesh on Toby's side. Sad part about this round 2 was that the losing teams still had to go home without any price money. Especially CLG,
eliminated by Orange, ending the tournament as only top 12 after starting 6-0 into the group phase is certainly a bit depressing. The American hopes for an American team in the top 8 were destroyed within just two matches: First,
coL lost against EHOME, directly afterwards,
TongFu defeated EG. This way, the American's did very well in the group phase, both qualifying for the upper bracket, but both went home with 1-2 and 0-1 match stats in the playoffs. The round of ninth placed team was completed by
Darer, which were destroyed by Burning's impressive farm.
In the upper bracket, LGD continued its winning streak,
making it by now an 18-0 record. The second finalist of the upper bracket was determined in the Na'Vi versus iG match, which
the Ukrainians managed to win after conceding the first map at just 16 minutes.
Handing the day back to the lower bracket, EHOME found a way to counter Morphling
by playing a 700 gpm Tiny. TongFu was the first Chinese team in the whole tournament
to be eliminated. Both Orange and TongFu get some consolation by winning $25,000 USD prize money. In the last games of today,
iG sent EHOME home and
Zenith lost against DK.
Sheever and WhatIsHip once again were very active bringing you all the interviews from the Benaroya Hall. Sheever even did interviews for Valve's production itself, but presenting you on GosuGamers as videos, we have Jeyo from compLexity,
admitting that they had problems finding a LAN routine from the beginning of the tournament on.
Bruno 'Wicked' Carlucci, the Statsman gave an interview, revealing that Dota Academy will soon have laning stats as well. dpmlicious, one of the interviewers explained that
if the Chinese teams were not winning that much, she would have had more after-match interviews to bring to your living rooms. In two caster interviews, we asked
Luminious and
Draskyl, what their thoughts on the biggest Dota 2 event of the year are.
Bulba from EG apologized for not reaching top 8 with his team, while
Black explained that he was ill basically from the beginning.. We finished the day off with
the party of Na'Vi on the stage after the win against iG.
In Saturday's gallery you'll also find some highlights:
Gabe Newell trolling syndereN, the audience's reaction to Na'Vi and the best costumes of the day.
We will be back tomorrow (or later today, if you are in Europe) and bring you the coverage of the final day of The International 2012 in Benaroya Hall, Seattle.
