The International 6 European qualifiers: No CIS teams left

The last CIS squad standing in the European qualifiers for TI6, Fantastic Five got eliminated today by Escape Gaming. Ad Finem and Alliance are still left to fight for a grand finals spot.

No less than five CIS representatives failed to grab a top five spot in the first stage of qualifiers, which was a best of one round robin stage. Team Empire, Virtus.Pro, Vega Squadron, Power Rangers and Flipsid3 Tactics all lost the race for TI6. On the other hand, Fantastic Five had an amazing run, winning the Open Qualifiers session two and finishing yesterday the group stage tied with Team Secret and Escape Gaming.

At the end of the three way tie, Secret won the group stage and left F5 to continue the fight for TI6 in the playoffs stage.  Unfortunately for the CIS fans, the long marathon that F5 had to go through in the last couple of days might have had an impact on their performance today. They’ve lost both of the playoff best of three series, firstly conceding with a 0-2 score to Ad Finem and then, despite winning the first game of the series against Escape Gaming, losing the next two games and their chance of participating at the 2016 International.

Three teams are left to dispute the second qualifying spot, Alliance and Ad Finem looking strong both in the upper bracket finals, while Escape Gaming (ex No Diggity) has to survive the lower bracket finals for a shot at either TI6 main event or the Wild Card.

EU qualifiers day two playoffs schedule:

12:00 CEST: Alliance vs Ad Finem - upper bracket final
15:30 CEST: Escape vs TBD - lower bracket final
19:00 CEST: TBD vsTBD - bo5 grand finals
