Red Bull Day 1 - Rift eliminated, MY down to the last life

The Red Bull Battle Grounds challenger round has it's first day finished using the "Lives" system. Once a team gets three losses they are gone. Follow the standings and scores here.

For those unfamilar with the format of Red Bull Battle Grounds, five teams from five regions are each taking part of the challenger phase. In a certain order, teams take turn challenging another team of their choice. Each team may reflect the challenge upon another team instead of accepting it but they may only do so once. The reflector is marked with a Linken's Sphere in the table below. A team that loses three teams are eliminated from further competition, each life are marked with an Aegis in the table below. The phase ends when only two teams remain. Those two teams will then play the finals on Sunday.

The challenges went more or less as expected with the two favourites (Invictus Gaming and Team Secret) not getting challenged by anyone. The matches were they themselves were the challengers, they showed up in great shape and won rather convincingly. MY was the victim of the most challenges but are still standing at the end of the day. Less fortunate were Summer's Rift who lost all three games the played. Secret also challenged them but they used their reflector to fend Secret off towards MY instead.

Worth pointing out is that both Summer's Rift and Hellraisers are using stand-ins at the event, with Rift having ixmike instead of their regular offlaner miraclechipmunk and Hellraisers lacking their hard carry Artes at the event. Instead rmN takes on the last position during the event. Hellraisers got run over quite badly in their first game vs Invictus Gaming but since then they change it around a bit, emphasing more on Dread and the two super aggressive carry heroes that he controlled; Ursa and Huskar. Hellraisers displayed a great use of both heroes into a working line-up, and dispatched of MY and Rift using them.

Tomorrow the challenges continues with a maximum amount of seven matches and a minimum amount of three. Day two will continue without Summer's Rift as they lost all three of their lives today. MY is barely hanging in there but they at least have their reflector left to avert a challenge.
