The Summit 3 EU : Phase 2 begins, Alliance and NiP advance

The second phase of the Summit 3 European qualifier has begun with two of the first round results already decided. Alliance and NiP advance to the next round, forcing Na'Vi and Cloud 9 into the lower bracket while the remaining first round matches are due later today.

The Summit 3 European Qualifier has finally entered the second phase following the conclusion of the SEA Qualifiers.  Rave managed to book their spot in the Los Angeles LAN finals after narrowly defeating MVP Phoenix to claim their place. They join defending champions Vici Gaming  at the event, but now it's time to find the two European teams that will join them. Team Secret, Team Empire, Cloud 9, ASUS.Polar, Natus Vincere and Alliance are joined by Ninjas in Pyjamas and 4 Anchors following their qualification from the previous phase. All eight teams will compete in a double elimination bracket, with some of the lower bracket teams already decided.

Two of the opening round matches have already finished, with Alliance and Ninjas In Pyjamas defeating Natus Vincere and Cloud 9 respectively. Ninjas in Pyjamas won a dramatic third game over Cloud 9 after the Swedes somehow claimed victory after 70 minutes and being approximately 30,000 gold behind their opponents. Alliance had two easy games against Natus Vincere, extending their record with Sebastien '7ckngMad' Debs to 23-6 as the team show signs of returning to their former dominance in Europe. It'll be interesting whether they can sustain this over a long period of time. Natus Vincere and Cloud 9 drop into to the lower bracket and are now one step from elimination.

The next match will be between ASUS.Polar and Team Empire later today at 17:30 CET, for more information on upcoming matches and schedule, check out the coverage hub
