The new VALORANT agent has been revealed and his name is Iso.
The trailer and official gameplay for Iso has been released. Iso is VALORANT’s Agent 24 and he originates from China. He has a unique ability that transports the enemy into a domain for a 1v1 battle.
Riot’s prowess in cinematic trailers was evident in Iso’s Agent trailer. The visual effects and music are all on point. It’s hard not to be hyped up for this upcoming Duelist.
In the Episode 7 Act 3 teaser, Riot’s Character producer John Goscicki revealed that they will be releasing the last agent for the year and it will be a Duelist.
Gekko and Deadlock were the latest additions to the VALORANT roster but they feel weak for their roles at the moment. Riot is looking into these agents and fans can expect a few buffs for the next big patch.
Riot gathered pro players and content creators in their headquarters for the first look at the new VALORANT agent, Iso. Riot also sent out merch to a number of influencers that have the ability icons of Iso.
Iso’s Abilities
Contingency (C)
Cost: 250; 1 Charge Maximum
EQUIP to assembler prismatic energy. FIRE to push an indestructible wall of energy forward that blocks bullets.
Undercut (Q)
Cost: 200; 2 Charges Maximum
EQUIP a molecular bolt. Fire to throw it forward, applying a brief FRAGILE to all players it touches. The bolt can pass through solid objects, including walls.
Double Tap (E)
Cost: 150; 1 Base Charge, 2 Maximum
START a focus timer. Once completed, enter a flow state during which downed enemies you kill or damage generate an energy orb. Shooting this orb grants you a shield which absorbs one instance of damage from any source.
Kill Contract (X)
Cost: 7 Ultimate Points
EQUIP an interdimensional arena. FIRE to hurl a column of energy through the battlefield, pulling you and the first enemy hit into the arena. You and your opponent duel to the death.
Iso’s Gameplay
Iso offers a unique playstyle that differs from other Duelists. The 1v1 battle in his domain gives him a slight advantage because there are more angles he can play with.
His wall is similar to Harbor’s Cascade but you can’t stop it. It can be used to enter sites and clear angles. Meanwhile, Undercut is similar to Omen’s Blind but it makes the enemies vulnerable instead.
After the official gameplay was released, Iso was quickly compared to Reyna because of his Double Tap. Players may get the Aimlabs vibes before activating the invulnerability because you have to shoot the orb for it to activate. Unlike Reyna’s Dismiss or Devour which can be triggered when the orb is in your sight, you have to make that extra effort.
His lack of mobility and flash will be a challenge for players who will pick him up. Indeed, you need to have a decent aim to maximize the potential of Iso.
Although he won’t challenge Jett’s and Raze's popularity when it comes to pick rate, he is a pretty strong contender to Reyna in pub matches.
Iso will be available to play after the current act ends on October 30, 2023. He will be in the live server once Episode 7 Act 3 begins. Fans surely can’t wait to get their hands on the newest duelist in-game.
