BEAT Invitational Season 2 announced

Fan-favorite teams will compete for at least $5,000.

Beat announced the Overwatch BEAT Invitational Season 2 earlier today, with eight teams battling it out to see who will claim part of the $5,000+ prize pool.

The weekend tournament, which starts July 7, will be double elimination, best-of-five for the Round Robin and playoff phases; the Grand Finals will be a best-of-seven. Any maps that end in a tie will be settled in the becoming-increasingly-more-standard King fo the Hill map.

The tournament promises some top-notch competition from some of the best teams NA has to offer:

Despite undergoing a major roster change, Immortals were able to make it through the Overwatch Contenders Season Zero Open Qualifiers to advance to the Group Stages starting this weekend, along with fellow invitees Counter Logic Gaming, YIKES!, LG Evil, Tempo Storm and Team Liquid. Cloud9 was directly invited to Contenders Season Zero while Evil Geniuses did not qualify.

The inaugural BEAT Invitational saw Team EnVyUs take home top prize, while Code7 - the team formerly known as compLexity Gaming - took second place and Cloud9 finished third.

The fan-favorites don't stop with the teams: Hexagrams and ZP are back together again for another round and will be commentating the tournament on Beat's Twitch channel
