Genshin Impact has revealed another new playable character coming from Snezhnaya. Vodyanitsa, known as the "Lingering Siren-Song," is a Water Imp who performs as the prima donna of the Korolevskiy Troupe.
She is set to debut in Version 7.1 alongside Vesna.
Who is Vodyanitsa in Genshin Impact?
Vodyanitsa is a Water Imp who hails from Snezhnaya, where her kind once lived throughout the city. Vodyanitsa's name is a homage to Vodyanitsa of Slavic folklore, who is known as a female water spirit, and the wife of the water ruler, Vodyanoy. Although the entity is also known by other names like Rusalka, Kupalka, Shutovka, Loskotukha, and Mavka.
According to her official character description, Water Imps were once a familiar sight across Snezhnaya. Some performed songs on stage, while others could be heard humming through the city's streets and alleyways. There were also Water Imps who lived beneath the water, using their haunting songs to lure curious passersby toward the water's edge. These mischievous Imps would then splash their unsuspecting victims before diving back underwater, leaving them somewhere between annoyed and amused.
Over time, however, the Water Imps began disappearing from Snezhnaya's stages and streets, leaving many wondering whether they would ever hear them again.
But Vodyanitsa chose to remain, and until now, her beautiful singing voice crowns the performances at Koloyevskiy theatre, her songs a distant memory of when the Water Imps still roamed freely across Snezhnaya's once unfrozen waters. The reason why though, is something we are yet to discover.
As a playable character, Vodyanitsa will wield a Hydro Stellar Linchpin, although her preferred weapon choice and rarity is still kept under wraps.
When is Genshin Impact Version 7.1 coming out?
Version 7.1 is expected to be released sometime in September. Following the standard patch schedule, it is likely to drop on the 23rd. Version 7.1 will also likely celebrate Genshin Impact's sixth anniversary, which is commemorated on the 28th of September.
