Dragon Knight? More like Rathalos Knight.
Capcom and Valve are bringing the worlds of Dota 2 and Monster Hunter together, in one of this year’s most unlikely gaming crossovers yet. The crossover consists of new item sets, new pets, an all-new crafting system, and a new in-game hunt.
Among other things, this crossover will allow players to transform Dragon Knight into Rathalos, adopt a pet Poogie, and craft costumes for a Palico courier.
Dota 2 x Monster Hunter cosmetics revealed
Valve’s upcoming Monster Hunter x Dota 2 crossover is a welcome surprise, treating players to an in-game crossover rife with nods and references to the Monster Hunter franchise. The crossover includes six Monster Hunter-themed item sets, each bringing a set of armour from the franchise into the world of Dota.
Each set of armour also has three alternate versions available to be crafted, and it’s all free providing that players grind for the materials themselves. The crossover also includes craftable outfits for the new Palico courier and pet Poogie. The Poogie will languish in the player’s base, as an adorable new in-game pet.
Players can harvest materials to craft the core versions of these hero sets via hero hunts, much like they would harvest loot from monster hunts in Monster Hunter. The Hero Atlas will also help players track their progress, explore hero lore, and compile dispatches from Goodkind.
An important note to make here: not all of the crossover’s cosmetics will be free. The Expedition Pack will include even more items for players who are willing to shell out, including cosmetics which transform playable Dota 2 characters into Monster Hunter monsters–specifically, Rathalos for Dragon Knight, and the Bullfango for Beastmaster.
The Expedition Pack will also include a Monster Hunter music pack, seasonal spray collection, and a bundle of crafting materials. Anyone who picks up an Expedition Pack will also be able to craft unique Poogie, Palico, and hero set variants with custom ambient and Immortal effects.
The Dota 2 x Monster Hunter crossover will run for three months.
