VALORANT awarded Best Esports Game at The Game Awards 2022

They beat CS:GO and League of Legends to the crown.

The Game Awards 2022 has just concluded, and big news from the world of gaming was announced – from new titles to sequels and DLCS. Of course, in the midst of the new stuff, awards were given out. One of the awards that were given out was the Best Esports game of 2022.

VALORANT walked away with the crown for the first time – snatching the win away from another Riot title, League of Legends. The accolade was conferred based on tournaments featuring the title, the community support it has received, content updates, and more.

Last year, League of Legends was the winner of the same award.

Other big wins from the VALORANT scene include Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker winning the Best Esports Athlete award – beating other names like faker, Karrigan and S1mple. Bzka from MIBR meanwhile won the best Esports Coach title and LOUD won the best Esports Team award.

League did walk away with an award, however; the title won the Best Esports Event of the year, beating PGL Major Antwerp and VALORANT Champions 2022
