With the teams set up for early invades, CandyPanda was crafty, taking stealth first on Twitch and scouting out Fnatic successfully to kick the day off with "el classico." Though the game saw silence during the beginning, first blood was popped once Fnatic made the more aggressive move, utilizing Twisted Fate pressure to keep an early lead.
On the opposite end of the map, sOAZ bullied Kev1n and xPeke did well mid as well, leading to an easy victory for Fnatic to kick things off on Day 1.
One of the most popular spectable matches happens once again with Gambit Gaming vs. Evil Geniuses. Though both teams have found themselves new sponsors, their playstyle remains the same -- regrettably, that works a little more in Gambit's Favor than Evil Geniuses. What the game does bring is innovation.
Though the casters seemed trolled initially, Snoopeh locks in Malzahar jungle and actually provides quite a hefty amount of pressure. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for Gambit's aggressive play and Diamond's solo dragon capabilities, bringing this 'victory in the hands of Gambit once again, ending climatically with an Alex Ich pentakill!
Most would believe that "stomp" is not the correct word or even close to an accurate depiction of the outcome of this game. Both lanes beginning as a swap, the upper hand more than obviously went to Copenhagen Wolves during each exchange, as depicted by their 11-1 and 8k gold lead in the early game.
After a rather depressing compilation of skirmishes for GIANTS, Wolves steamroll the GIANTS and force a surrender only 3 minutes after the game allows for it.
In another one-sided stompfest, Against All Authority relentlessly use Dragonborns as their playthings and start the game off 3-0 straight away. Though Dragonborns manages to pick up a couple kills, it doesn't compare to the 13 that Against All Authority picks up in exchange as well as the 5 towers they control towards the endagame.
As you can imagine, Dragonborns didn't stand much of a chance and they were left helpless at the hands of Against All Authorities map and gold domination.
One of the more classic matches of the EU LCS kicks off with no team taking too large of an early lead in gold, however, SK does manage to send the bottom lane of Krepo and Yellowpete back early. The game pans out with solid play from both sides, but SK applying more pressure and gaining vengeance from their previous loss.
After some impressve global pressure applied from Ocelote and dragon advantages, the sum of all small leads from SK Gaming leads to a win against Evil Geniuses.
The last game of the day would fortunately be the closest game of the day as the rank #1 team took on the rank #2 team. The game starts out rather grimly for Gambit with several summoners being blown as well as Genja giving first blood to YellOwstar, even after ranking up Arcane Shift at level 1. However, Gambit Gaming is no inexperienced team when it comes to climbing out of the gutter and managed to catch right back up.
Diamondprox once again allows his team to flourish with his trademark solo dragons, together with his team taking aggressive advantages elsewhere to put an end to Fnatic and bring the threat of taking them out of their rank 1 spot in the LCS.
