Eight teams are left standing with a chance to join sG, tdM and coL in Las Vegas, Nevada for the grand closing of the premier HoN Tour season. In the first round of the Playoffs all high seeds marched through their opponents, solidifying their favorite position.
Four days were scheduled, three days went off, only six total maps were needed to put the first day of the HoN Tour Playoffs in the books. Afraid, QsQ and Lions eSports all put their opponents away with a clean and clear 2-0, while Tt eSports received a forfeit victory over Pencils.
That forfeit will not only put Tt eSports into the Upper Bracket Semifinals, but also is the end of the season for Pencils. As this is an official HoN Tour event the same rules apply as in the regular season Cycles. As a result of that a first round forfeit is a automatic disqualification which is ending the dreams of Pencils already on the first day. Benefiting from that is Team Excellent who will move through into the second round of the Lower Bracket without playing another match.
The team around controversial community figure Pew had to suffer a crushing loss by SoundBlaster Heroes League runner-up Lions eSports who are moving into the UB Semifinals against the American powerhouse of Tt eSports. That match actually is highly anticipated and was predicted as the Grand Final of this tournament by many in the community.
The other results of the day showed QsQ moving past Pikachu, who received the spot in the Playoffs due to Absolute Legends not being able to play on weekdays with college and work commitments. The team around former fnatic supporter NoVa will have to play Afraid in the Semis after the boys around captain Jollem defeated We Are Spies rather convincingly with a clean sweep. In the Lower Bracket Pikachu and We Are Spies will put their tournament lives on the line and one team's dreams of going to Las Vegas, Nevada will be shattered after just two days of competing. In the end only one team will get the final ticket to America's Playground and only one team will get the opportunity to challenge Stay Green, Trademark eSports and compLexity Gaming for the right to name themselves the first ever HoN Tour Champion.
