QsQ wins Gold Division Championship

Source: QsQ Facebook

It was the shocker of the seventh Cycle that the top tier team QsQ had to leave the Diamond Division for the first time in HoN Tour history to prove themselves again through Gold. Now they end the regular season on a high note, gaining some momentum for the playoffs.

It won't earn QsQ a promotion back into Diamond with the regular season ending on Sunday, but it will earn them back some respect. The European squad around NoVa went through a deep slump lately with early tournament exits and ultimately the demotion into the second league of HoN Tour - the Gold Division. Not only their status as one of the elite teams in HoN was tumbling, but also their ranking spot for the entire HoN Tour was in jeopardy with Lions eSports and Tt eSports in position.

The Gold Championship and the early departure of Lions in the last HoN Tour Diamond Cycle eased the nerves a bit and QsQ is most likely going to go into the playoff tournament as the top seeded team. Their chances for the playoffs are good when they get back into the shape of a couple of weeks ago. At that time QsQ posted one of the most impressive runs of the first season of HoN Tour, going on a tear the last weekend of the third Cycle. They swept the top teams from Trademark eSports, compLexity Gaming and Tt eSports in a 24-hour span and even marched into the Grand Finals going up 2-1 against Stay Green. It was not enough to capture the crown of the Diamond Division, but the team earned tons of respect and gained the reputation of a "streaky team". They might need another streak like this next week in the playoffs.

The path through the Gold Division wasn't as smooth as a lot of people had expected, but in the end the result gives QsQ the credit they deserve. They didn't march through the Upper Bracket and right into the Grand Finals, but they got the job done after all. Still the early loss against Bloodbath N Beyond in the third round of the Upper Bracket raised some questions - questions that QsQ answered with victories over Slash Defenders, Stay Free, Vietnamese Dream, Animus Vox, Leifarna and One Trick Pony in the Grand Final.

The Grand Final might have been fluky with scheduling issues for both teams and ultimately a forfeit from One Trick Pony, but the Gold title will not have a stain as QsQ is looking good again heading into the important playoffs for a ticket to Las Vegas.
