One of the biggest upsets in the qualifiers for the SoundBlaster Heroes League occurred tonight in the sixth installment of the weekly qualifiers. The former Diamond Division team Another Dimension suffered defeat at the hands of Bye Team. So far Bye Team only became known with their unconventional name, that lead another team in the HoN Tour Silver Division to believe that they actually had a walkover into the next round. Some controversy and a admin ruling had to commence and lead to an official warning for Bye Team, as well as a forced name change into A HoN Tour Team.
Still they let actions following to that incident and moved through the brackets without real much problems. They are still in the running for the Silver Division Championship and will play the Silver Semifinal tomorrow. So next division they will clash against teams of the magnitude of Another Dimension, who recently got demoted back to the Gold Division after their short stint in the highest league HoN Tour has to offer.
On the road to the finals Bye Team had to pass through competition like Wards Overrated, EEEE, Qlimax Crew and The Blame Game to finally square off against a well-known team in the Grand Final. Another Dimension were seeded as the best team in the qualifier overall and therefor took advantage of an actual BYE in the first round. After that they eliminated Team Blazin EU, Zara Larsson and JAkos to reach the Grand Finals and play for their ticket into the Championship Brackets.
In the end Bye Team displayed their unexpected strength and morale to come back from a 1-0 deficit in the Best-of-Three Finals. After three highly entertaining and fast-pace matches Bye Team won their spot in the SoundBlaster Heroes League. There they can compete with the best in the world for a prize total of $40,000 USD in cash and gear.
