S2 Games victimized by hacker attack

S2 Games, publisher of Heroes of Newerth, fell victim to a hacker attack this weekend. Apparently, the hacker gained access over the account database, acquiring the account names, emails and passwords of every single account that is registered to Heroes of Newerth.

What started out as a rumur has been confirmed by several sources including MoonMeander, Nir and S2 Games themselves. The rumor was initially started was started when a hacker gave away the password and account name of compLexity Gaming's MoonMeander on his twitch.tv chat while he was playing. As a result, several members of the community used that data, ultimately kicking the real MoonMeander out of the game. The same thing happened to Pikachu's Nir, who timed out during his Hon Tour match up against Lions eSports. As a result of the attack, every Hon Tour match has been suspended and delayed until the issue is resolved.

Hacker has access to all non-admin hon accounts. I got hacked via Hon Database. Nir (who was streaming) also got his password leaked. The only hon streams up are Beefpotpie (who has admin) and latinohon (assuming he doesn’t have LHON passwords) and people less than 10 viewers. He’s selling access to any hon account you want to log into for 35 bucks a piece. - David 'MoonMeander' Tan

S2 Games have acknowledged the situation and are working towards resolving the leaks and issues that have transpired with the attacks. S2 Games urges every member of the community to not change their password for Heroes of Newerth, as the leak is not yet sealed, but is encouraging the change of all other passwords away from S2 Games application to limit the danger of spreading harm with the database information.

Following those actions, all websites that are run by S2 Games are currently experience downtime. That includes the Heroes of Newerth forums, the Hon Tour website and Honcast.com.

On top of getting hold of all Heroes of Newerth accounts, the hacker also has access to the twitter account of Honcast's own BreakyCPK. Everything that is written on that feed is displaying the thoughts and messages of the hacker, not BreakyCPK.
