Polycount contest, first set of winners

Last week, the Polycount contest officially ended and yesterday Valve announced the first set of winners in the Dota 2 blog.

The Polycount contest was a contest for custom item creators out there. People could submit full sets for heroes over a period of two month.

The winners were supposed to be announced this monday. Instead, Valve chose to expose them more by going into detail as to why they chose them and how the judging process went down.

*Update: Seeing as a lot of people have been asking about the prizes for this contest, aside from pride and glory of course, here is the quote from the original contest post from Polycount.com:

- Each winner will have their items sold in the DOTA 2 store and will receive royalty payments from their items.
As a reminder, here is a page about the Polycount Pack TF2 Contest winners and how they fared. (But this is not a guarantee of that kind of earnings.)

- You may divvy up your royalty portion amongst your team-mates as you see fit. (See Submitting above).

- Special Polycount rarity versions of their items – above & beyond the self-made rare items already in the game.

3 winners will be announced on Tuesday, Wednesday and 4 on Thursday, Friday being the day for the grand prize winner.

Tuesday's winners are:

Templar Assassin’s Deadly Nightshade Set

Meepo’s Riftshadow Roamer Set

Witch Doctor’s Stormcrow’s Spirit Set

It is important to note, that Valve chose not more than one set for a hero. However, that does not mean that those who didn't win, will not make it into the client. Winning sets will be available coming next week, the rest is announced for January.

If you want to know what criteria were important, what common mistakes in most submissions where and why the following sets were chosen, read the full blog here.
