Emaxx denies Dreamz 3-peat

For the past two months in Philippine Dota, Dreamz Ledion SteelSeries has rested on the crest of Gigabyte Mineski Pro-Gaming League (GMPGL)... until now.

Pacific Emaxx, formerly known as Badburn, has just put a stop on Dreamz in GMPGL 4-8.

Both teams overcame their opponents in the group stage with Dreamz beating Happy Chicken (Tsong XP) and ABART (Apple Park B), while Pacific Emaxx beating MSI Evolution GT, QUPE Sweetopia and Trojan TheNetCom.

In the playoffs round, the eventual finalists immediately crossed paths in the first round.

Pacific Emaxx won that battle to face iZONE GIGABYTE at the winners bracket finals.

iZONE GIGABYTE, a team that used to be in a very hot streak through winning the recent GEST and PPC, fell short to make a landing at the grand final match after falling to Emaxx and then to Dreamz shortly after.

In the finals match, Dreamz faced off once again with Emaxx to determine the GMPGL champ for the month.

Game 1, Emaxx brings out what many Pinoy Dota fans seem to believe the hottest new combo in the local scene: Rikimaru-Wisp. However, Dreamz counters that by simply picking Slardar.

During the early game, Emaxx had a rough start due to the Riki-Wisp being controlled by the Windrunner of Dreamz at the top lane, and the Shadow Fiend of Bayabas failing to establish a decent midgame because of relentless ganks at the mid.

From that point, Dreamz capitalized every moment and didn't give Emaxx the slightest chance to get back into the game. Emaxx types out.

Game 2, it's Dreamz turn of using the Guardian Wisp. Emaxx response was to play the game out standard.Dreamz finishes off the picking phase by getting Bounty Hunter.

The two teams went into very intense exchanges which eventually ended up with insanely farmed heroes: Night Stalker and Bounty Hunter for Dreamz, Queen of Pain and Nerubian Weaver for Emaxx.

However, the entire match boiled down to one mistake from Dreamz as they prematurely engaged a clash at Emaxx's third middle tower.

Emaxx rode on the grave mistake of Dreamz and went for the mega creeps. Dreamz attempted another push only to be swept again by Emaxx. The mega creeps then finish off the World Tree of Dreamz.
