Trademark eSports wins It's Gosu August #1

In the shadow of DreamHoN Summer Championship, It's Gosu is still running their monthly tournaments, this time with a $2000 prize pool. The first Open tournament/qualifier went into the hands of Trademark eSports. But as with seemingly everything in HoN, it wasn't without it's share of drama and controversy.

A total of 28 teams decided to take part in the first qualifier for the $1200 It's Gosu August Invitational and three of the favorites among them, Team Pikachu, Vitriolic and Clan Milk, all of whom qualified for the DreamHoN Playoffs, fell short of the glory in the early stages, against Team 15, The Nineties and QsQ777 respectively.

The two remaining teams dubbed to go all the way in this event, namely Trademark eSports and the home team of It's Gosu, played with confidence and comfortably secured their places in the match for all the marbles. Once there, It's Gosu took the lead in the series with their first game and continued with the same trend in the second one, being well on their way to grabbing the first place. This is when the unfortunate circumstances start to take place, however.

It's Gosu had a pretty significant lead in the match when server issues started. Lag, disconnects and players unable to rejoin the game plagued over Newerth. Remakes were offered by Trademark eSports, which their opponents denied to accept. It's Gosu were hit harder by the connectivity and server problems, which allowed Trademark eSports to not only catch up, but also eventually win the entire game. It's Gosu thought that the right thing for Trademark to do in that situation was to accept that they were the better team and forfeit them the game, which they denied to do, so they themselves decided not to play out the third and final series of the tournament. Trademark eSports was thus declared the winner.

It will be interesting to see how this controversy affects these two teams and their relationship and if we've witnessed the start of a new great rivalry for months to come.
