» Match 1: Mvp vs July
Even after the 15th minute mark, the game on Ohana still had the early-game vibe of hellions versus mutalisk galore. True to his style, July was the one constantly barking into Mvp's face, throwing more and more units to die at the feet of the heavily upgraded thors, tanks and hellions. Although down in every single possible way, July still had a devious plan - stockpile gas and fill that supply void with an armada of hive tech units. And maybe if Mvp did not push out and killed a cluster of overlords, July might have even had a shot.
Daybreak saw July going for a quick fourth and abusing the size of the map the torment Mvp with mutalisks until the terran had it enough and made a move. The marine/thor/tank army was scary at the beginning but much less once it was drowned in baneling explosions.
On Antiga Shipyard, Mvp opened with an early aggression that delayed July's third and allowed Mvp to take an additional base of his own. Knowing that there is no sense going for macro game only now--and on Antiga to that--July chose the July approach and turned on the reckless switch, throwing wave after wave of units at Mvp, who did not break a sweat sitting on perfectly spaced tanks and bunkers and enjoying this little tower defense game that would bring him victory.
» Match 2: Leenock vs Hero
After the world-famous Hero build of prism, sentries and various gateway appendixes, Leenock was in as big a trouble as he'd ever get. His entire main was cleaned and he was forced to re-hatch all around Metropolis but with no Lair he had little to no chance in turning the game around. He would have to wait for the Atlantis Spaceship game to set his record straight and used a very persistent burrow roach push that crushed Hero before he could get his economy going.
Although both previous games were a real pleasure to watch, featuring Hero's undying spirit and endless will to live, they were dwarfed by the spectacle on Entombed Valley. Hero and Leenock went all the way to the very late-game but the zerg probably had wished that thing developed differently. HerO was everywhere at one, using small squads of units to circle the map and control it, while simultaneously doing zealot and storm drops to snipe economy and tech. Leenock was broken shortly after his greater spire fell and he was pushed into an ultra tech, which stood inferior to Hero's mothership deathball.
» Winners match: Hero vs Mvp
Cloud Kingdom saw Mvp being pressured hard and eventually dying from asphyxiation as Hero's 4-gate push kept him way too long without steady income. True to his likings, Mvp went for Antiga Shipyard in set two and exploited Hero's lack of scouting to punish him by taking a hidden base and chopping out a limb shortly after with a strong bio attack. Yet even in the face of defeat, Hero stood there never dying, receiving praise after praise about his impossible defense.
Mvp would meet his end on Daybreak as he tried to hide a factory which, alas, got scouted. Mvp chose to stick to his plan but Hero already had an immortal to support him in his stand.
» Losers match: July vs Leenock
July played an uncharacteristically sloppy ZvZ micro-wise as neither his 10 pool on Cloud Kingdom nor his 1-base banes on Atlantis Spaceship were handled with the necessary precision and Leenock took a quick and easy ticket to the final match for group B.
» Final match: Leenock vs Mvp
Game one Entombed Valley ended abruptly as a group of marines, unsuspecting about the 2-base bane bust that was on the way, got surrounded in the middle of the map and cleaned, making Leenock's job all the more easier.
Mvp would not give up yet another Ro8 spot that easily, however, and after two extremely close sets on Antiga Shipyard and Dual Sight, he defeated Leenock's brood lords and mutas as well as the ultra/infestor composition in the final game to close it all up. On to the Ro8 Mvp went!
