MLG Winter Arena found its first grand finalist in the face of Jung Hoon "MarineKing" Lee. The Korean terran razed HuK in the winners bracket final 2-0 and is guaranteed to earn at least $6,000.
MarineKing and HuK opened their series on Antiga Shipyard with the Canadian going for a DT/gateway rush. A lowered supply depot allowed the templars to run rampant around MKP's base for a while but as they got cleaned, the terran gave his response in the form of a marine/marauder timing attack just as HuK was getting his third. Elevating half his army while at the same time attacking the natural, MKP almost broke HuK there and then with the main nexus surviving with less than thirty hit points. HuK's economy would eventually fall apart as his third died to yet another bio attack, his natural got mined out and his main nexus finally fell to a bio drop.
On Metalopolis, HuK went for a 4-gate rush on top of a nexus feint but once again MKP defended successfully, despite losing more than fifteen SCVs. Hoping that MarineKing would be low on orbital energy due to excessive MULE-ing, HuK expanded and transitioned to a dark shrine but found himself low on units during his follow-up attack. MarineKing cleaned up and took the series to advance to the grand final.
