Activision Blizzard's recent conference call revealed that "the company's first quarter of 2012 does not incorporate a new release from Blizzard Entertainment," which means the expected release of Diablo 3 gets another pushback.
Diablo 3, which was meant to be released in early 2012, therefore gets yet another pushback. It comes in line with the recent information that the development team still test out various systems. It was also mentioned that they will be releasing more information on the release date within the next few weeks.
Bashiok, community manager, explains the situation further in a couple of blue posts on the Blizzard forums, saying they "have implemented changes which will greatly improve the game experience and final release will live up to the highest expectations. We expect launch to be a big opportunity for Blizzard."
The conference call also pinned down the fact that the beat testing and auction house testing is going well.
