American-based team CheckSix Gaming is reported to have signed Zerg player Sung Han "Sleep" Kim, formerly of team SlayerS. Sleep has been a free agent since October last year, when he departed from the Korean roster in search of a foreign team.
The roster that now welcomes Sleep already contains numerous promising players and community figures, including Major, ThisisJimmy, PainUser and Fargo. To better integrate the Korean in his new team, CheckSix will be flying Sleep to California in mid February.
- "We want to invest long term into all of our players," Curt Carter, business development director of CheckSix, told ESFI World. "We did not pick up Sleep to just be a player. He will also be involved heavily in playing with all our other players that will attend events regularly."
In his interview with ESFI, Sleep shares his high goals regarding his pro-gaming future while in the States.
- "Although I do think about competing in GSL, I haven't been able to experience a lot of tournaments. To expose myself to these experiences, I would like to start off in North American competitions, and from there compete in many GSLs, North American, and European competitions. [...] My goals are to win MLG and IPL in the States; even if I don't win, my goal is to engage in entertaining competitions."
