PCA Day 3 Ends with 48, Oliver leads, Moneymaker close

Another swift day of play at the PCA main event started with 173 players, all in the money, and ended with just 48, 20 minutes short of the planned six levels. Chris Oliver blew through the field today, hitting seemingly everything in sight as he amassed a stack of 3,675,000.

Chris Moneymaker continued his good run, finishing with 1,636,000, which was good for 5th in chips.

Notables still in the hunt include Mike Sowers, Eric Froehlich, Toby Lewis, Sam Stein and Day 2 chip leader Adam Geyer.

Well regarded players who bust on Day 3 included Day 1 chip leader Pieter de Korver (113th), JP Kelly (120th), Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (149th) and Victor Ramdin (163rd). Some other notables who busted during the day were recent WPT winner Dwyte Pilgrim, Super High Roller Champion Eugene Katchalov, and Michael Binger.

With only 48 of the original 1560 players left, all players will be gunning for the $2.3 million first place prize or the biggest possible piece of the $15.132 million prize pool.
