
Our great friends over at 178.com got the chance to interview Samwise Didier, the Art Director of StarCraft 2 and the voice of "Thor is here".
Sam Didier worked on both the original StarCraft and StarCraft 2. Getting right on the subject, Samwise explains how simplicity is a very important factor when making the arts for StarCraft 2;
- "When you see a Zergling, we want you to know it is a Zergling instead of Hydralisk, and gamers should easily distinguish Marines, Medics and Reapers", says Sam Didier to 178.com during the launch party.
The importance of making a game loved by everyone and accepted by the StarCraft Brood War fans has been tough, but Sam is very happy with what they accomplished.
When asked about how the gameplay affects the art of the game, Sam mentions the Ultralisk and how it has become smaller and smaller until the stage it is at now and was a real problem for the art team because, of course, gameplay comes first.
