In his latest blog post, IceFrog has provided a teaser as to what to expect from the new map. He reveals that in the new version, there will be new items, new heroes and of course the all important balance changes. IceFrog then continues to provide a little insight as to what has changed.
Firstly, captain's mode drafting system has been change. Instead of the usual four bans, then five picks, it will be split into two ban/pick phase. Three heroes will be banned first followed by a three heroes picks in the first phase. In phase two, there will be two bans then two picks. This will no doubt a great news to DotA fans all around as this will allow teams to possible "hide" their strategy from the opposing team and allow more new strategies to be developed.
The Frog then goes on to reveal a new basic item called "Orb of Venom" being added to the item pool. Nothing is known about what the item will do, but it is safe to say it will have some kind of poison element to it. Aghanim's Scepter now works on Tiny now giving him a new ability and changing his hero model to holding a walking stick. Maybe he will be able to clobber people with it? Finally, a short animation on a new ability, Kinetic Field is shown. The ability is to be seen on one of the new heroes. Head on over to IceFrog's Blog to see his full post.
