Congatulations on your win tonight! How did it feel to take down Nazgul? Were you surprised?
- Yeah, I was very surprised because I felt I was going to lose very quickly without taking a serious fight with him. Nazgul is a really good player, I am very happy that I could win.
Could you guide us through the games?
- I knew that the first game would be a surprise for the both of us. Nazgul decided to make a zealot rush just to kill probe or zealot. His rush was successful as I lost a zealot and a probe while he didn't lose any at all. Since it was Kulas Ravine I wanted to harass with some stalkers, but it failed. He simply had more gateways so he just outmacroed me.
The second game was the best out of those five games. It was full of micro and force fields. Nazgul was pushing me with few sentries and zealots while he was blocking my ramp with force field, which hindered me to go out. He expoed. He did a big mistake as he didn't see that I went down my ramp. I was able to use force field to block his units so I could kill them, which succeeded. After that it turned into a force field micro game. The game advantage was changing all the time, but I could eventually defend the attack at my expo which granted me the win.
The third game was very lucky for me, I predicted he would go for a zealot rush again so I did my 2 fast gateway zealot rush into his main. Luckily he did not, as I saw a cyber first. I could easily make more zealots than him which made me win the game.
The fourth game was a big mistake made by me. Nazgul was again was blocking me with sentries and zealots, and this time he paid attention
at my ramp so I couldn't go down. When I wanted to move out he used force field and 50% of my army got pushed out to his army and I lost a lot of units because of that. I tried to go for Colossus but it was too late when his macro was way better than mine.
I was hoping that he would make this sentry push again to me in the fifth game, which he did. I made fast colossus with range and I caught his sentries, which were blocking my ramp. When he lost a lot of army to my two Colossuses, I grouped my army and went out to attack his expansion. It was the most important fight of this cup. Overall I had better micro with the Colossus so I won the battle and therefore the ZOTAC too.
What do you think of the PvP matchup as it is today in SC2?
-To be honest, it's my worst match up. I really don't like it as a gamer. I know it's fun to watch because of many things to use. But I don't like it because I have not found the best build order to use. if I do one build order, I lose to another one. if I use another one I lost to another one and so on. But I think within time I will become a better player in the Protoss mirror match so I can like every matchup in SC2!
How do you feel you have transitioned to SC2? How much has your knowledge and skill from SC1 been helping you? How much SC2 have you played so far?
StarCraft 2 is very cool, I really like it. I think it's because it's very similiar to SC1. Knowledge from SC1 really helped me to get better in SC2. I could see my errors faster and make my tactics better. I also feel that knowledge from SC1 can help not only in other games, but in life too. Since I got my beta key I played like 400 games. I didn't play much in the beginning, I said that I will start to play hard after the reset, so I waited for that. When the reset came and I went out hard, I was first in division right from the beggining. Sometimes Shauni was first, but not for long ^^ After the second reset I lost my will to fight so I'm playing more custom games or 2on2s with my brother. But I get knowledge by losing games so I don't have to play thousands of games to become a better player. It makes me happy.
And now you have conquered your first title in the SC2 beta. Will we see you participating in more tournaments in the upcoming future?
- Of course, I hope you will see me at the top on the other tourmaments also. I hope it won't be the only an achievement I take in SC2, I wish to get better so I can finally be invited to an invitational tournament.
