 VS

Match ContextInvictus Gaming has been a completely wildcard coming into this set.  While Invictus Gaming had an incredible performance in week one, they've been faltering afterwards.  iG has been falling into their old trap of dominating the map and failing to close out due to throwing.

Meanwhile, LGD still lies near the bottom of the standings between former LPL participants but has shown improvements in baron control and the pick/ban phase.  iG fights to stay ahead of LGD or suffer a 0-2 which would result in a tie between the two.

Key Points:

  • iG invades early and puts the early pressure onto LGD
  • LGD manage to acquire the first dragon, while iG enjoys gold funneled onto Zz1tai's Kayle in the early game.
  • Despite Zz1tai's strength, We1less finds areas to roam with Quan and establishes dominance over Invictus Gaming
  • Kid once again has another strong game, but becomes a bit overaggressive as well as Yongsoo being a little too passive and arriving late to fights.
  • The mid-game was relatively sloppy for both teams, with constant picks happening upon respawn due to overstaying their welcome.
  • A throw near baron allows LGD to win.  iG did not focus the Nexus to end the game which allowed LGD to surmount the comeback.

Key Points:

  • iG's composition shows lack of cohesion while LGD gets some of the best picks in every single role for patch 4.9.
  • LGD look to continue their momentum off game one and end up diving 4v2 top, starting off 2-0.
  • iG maintain a double gold lead around 15 minutes in while also staying ahead in towers.
  • Despite a massive lead, LGD manage to clean-up baron and get a baron steal.
  • Eventually iG's picks come back to haunt them and LGD's amazing late game composition overruns iG.

 VS

Match Context: Edward Gaming has been improving in ways that were lacking last split, but still did not tie for the top spot.  Going into this match, they had a bit of trouble facing the other LSPL team of Young Glory earlier this week; defeating them was no easy feat.  However, they've come into this match with a hunger for victory, as it would mean they tie the other three teams for first place.

Meanwhile, World Elite Academy looks to end the week by grabbing some points, hoping they can out-stall the former late-game kings in EDG.

Key Points:

  • WE.a run with a heavy pick composition, but don't have much luck in acquiring picks.  EDG's composition focuses on hard engage as well as rounding it off with the safe Lucian pick.
  • EDG establishes a massive early lead by going 3-0 and grabbing the dragon by 10 minutes with no top participation.
  • Koro freezes top lane against Xr to dominate him in farm and take away any advantage he could have.
  • EDG could not grab a single kill or tower and EDG stayed in full control.
  • After winning several fights and establishing map control, EDG continued to split push the side lanes and divert pressure, grouping up to fight objectives afterwards.
  • EDG sustained their dominance and took the game.

Key Points:

  • EDG was blessed with yet another strong start, as ClearLove's improvements become more apparent and he secures first blood for EDG's bottom lane and himself.
  • U has showed his increasing domination on carry mid laners, especially Syndra, while Namei once again became absurdly fed, holding 100% kill participation at 17 minutes.
  • Once again, EDG are the first to everything (First Blood, First Tower, First Dragon, First Inhibitor, etc.)
  • EDG outplayed WE.a in every lane.  While WE.a is a late game team, EDG has that experience from last split, and didn't allow the game to go super late.
  • Koro 1v5's at the fountain to keep WE.a back and enters the four-way tie for first place.
