Salt Gaming defeats Team Potatoes in the $10,000 Road to BlizzCon Malaysia qualifiers

The most delicious sounding grand finals matchup was filled with immaculate play, and an unrelenting Sonya.

Salt Gaming has won the Road to BlizzCon Malaysia qualifiers, giving them the opportunity to compete on August 8th against 3 other teams yet to be determined. The future winners of the Singapore, Philippines, and Thailand qualifiers will compete against each other (and Salt Gaming) to determine the one team moving on to the Americas Championship at BlizzCon.

These qualifiers are not only for precious seeding, but large amounts of money. Team Potatoes and Salt Gaming were competing for the lion's share of a $10,000 prize pool, and the competition was fierce.  After losing game one of the grand finals,  Salt Gaming drafted Sonya in all three of the remaining games, winning each one of them. Angryfatbear used Sonya to lethal efficiency, using her Heroic Leap and Slam damage build to punish every moment where a member of Team Potatoes were out of position.

Muradin accompanied Sonya in every game, and the synergy between the two was powerful. Two leaping, stunning, damage dealing heroes allowed Team Salt to capitalize on advantageous moments and pick off fleeing heroes extremely well. It's a popular opinion that Sonya can not function as the sole Warrior on a team, but her "brawler" status alongside a true tank has been proven effective one again.
