Daniel Santoro Takes Down WPT Foxwoods Title

A great deal of excitement was felt going into the 2011 World Poker Tour Foxwoods World Poker Finals, as notable professional Christian Harder and former WPT Champion and Player of the Year Andy Frankenberger had both reserved seats at the final table. Though Frankenberger entered six-handed television final table play as the short stack, the young pro also known as “Charder30” was well positioned for a chance to score the victory.

This chapter of the Andy Frankenberger story saw an abrupt ending for the former player of the year when suffered a 5th place elimination at the hands of Harder’s pocket kings after only 13 hands of play, sending Frankenberger towards the rail to collect his $99,585 score and leaving the table one less noteworthy player.
The final table’s other notable, Christian Harder, was still standing and seemed incredibly focused upon seeing that his hopes for a WPT Titles would come to fruition. Harder faced a pretty uphill battle the tournament went into heads-up action with New Yorker Daniel Santoro, who held a 4.49 million to 1.23 million chip advantage. Unfortunately for those hoping to see a familiar name take down the 2011 WPT Foxwoods title, Harder was unable to accomplish the dramatic comeback leaving Santoro to take home his first WPT title and an immense $449,910 first place prize.

We’re sure to see Santoro back in action in at least one more event, as his nearly half a million dollar win included a $25,000 WPT Championship seat.
