Keller and Gavin Smith Lead Day 1 of WPT Biloxi

After a six week break, the WPT is back in action with the Southern Poker Championship at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. There were 214 players in this year's $10k buy-in field, slightly more than the 208 who played the event last year.

Robert Keller and new father Gavin Smith were the top two chip stacks of the 144 players that made it to Day 2.

Notables making it to Day 2 included Joseph Cheong, Andrew Lichtenberger, Jonathan Little, Jason Mercier, John Dolan, Scotty Nguyen, Nick Schulman, had Brown, Chris Bell, and Kara Scott.

Notables less fortunate and busting on Day 1 included 2007 winner Bill Edler, Tom Braband, Randal Flowers, Jim Collopy, John Hennigan, Matt Affleck, Matt Brady, Shawn Buchanan, and Dan O’Brien.

Day 2 of play is set to get underway at 12pm CT. Five 90-minute levels of play are planned before calling it a day.
