Phoenix Cyclops officially arrives in Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls in November, classic suit revealed

The roster of Marvel’s new fighting game is expanding.

Developer Arc System Works has officially revealed gameplay for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’ first DLC character: Phoenix Cyclops. The leader of the X-Men, now infused with the power of the Phoenix Force, will officially join the playable roster on 2 November, 2026. Cyclops will also be voiced by Ray Chase, who voiced the character in X-Men ‘97 and Marvel Rivals.

Does Cyclops have his classic suit in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls?

Cyclops is arriving in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’ playable roster with a slightly more niche appearance, inspired by the Avengers vs. X-Men comic book storyline, wherein the Phoenix Force was split into five, and possessed multiple members of the X-Men. Cyclops was indeed one of those X-Men, at least in this continuity.

According to a PlayStation Blog post from Arc System Works, the decision to base Cyclops on this specific comic book storyline came from a desire to “create fresher visuals and a more exciting fighting style while offering something unexpected for players,” in order to add “something new to his fighting game legacy.”

Phoenix Cyclops enters the fray with the hope of using his destructive new powers to save mutantkind from extinction, at any cost necessary. The developers went with a younger appearance for Cyclops, in order to contrast his more human appearance with the fiery transformed state he can morph into.

Cyclops is described as an all-rounder who can work at both long range and close range in combat, thanks to his versatile Optic Blasts. With the Phoenix Force by his side, he can also execute wide fire-based attacks to control areas of the map, coupled with projectiles, rushing attacks, throws, and setup tools.

Phoenix Cyclops can also accumulate an energy type called Solar Shards by using Optic Blasts in battle. When four Solar Shards are collected, he can transform into his Dark Phoenix form–much like he did in the comics, after absorbing the power of his teammates. In this temporary state, he gets a power boost at the cost of health depletion.

If you prefer Cyclops’ more iconic X-Men costume design, Arc System Works is also launching the character “Classic” and “Legacy” costumes, which will feature more familiar yellow-and-blue designs for longtime fans. Phoenix Cyclops will also be playable at EVO France from 9–11 October, 2026, at the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls booth.
